Design for IATA

Posted on: November 5th, 2012 by jessicadraws No Comments

Hello humans! (and aliens and animals, whoever is listening really)

Todays subject is a Design for IATA. Hope you’re all well. I wanted to share with you a design commission I did for IATA last week. IATA is an international trade body, created over 60 years ago by a group of airlines. Today, IATA represents some 240 airlines comprising 84% of total air traffic. The organization also represents, leads and serves the airline industry in general. Fact Sheet: IATA facts and figures.

I was asked to create an illustration for a  series of in-flight flyers for use on board flights to Doha illustrating a scene of inside an aircraft, filled with all sorts of different people, traveling for different reasons.

Design for IATA

I really enjoyed every bit of this project and I am really pleased with the results! Take a look at the images below and I’d love to hear your comments so please feel free to leave some :)

It’s taken a while but after designing, re-designing, building, coding, tweaking, re-jigging, replacing and a mega amount of fuss-pot-ness it’s finally up and I hope you all like it! Now you can see all my new work, new blog posts, new tweets, new everything all in one place! When I think what my very first website looked like it makes me giggle! I love interactivity and my main priority was being able to find all and everything I’m communicating with easily and quickly and I think it’s pretty easy now to find my shop links, my twitter & facebook links and everything else in between. And it’s so much easier for me now to be able to swap images and upload new content. Phew, can you tell I’m relieved?

Ok so, to celebrate this wonderful occasion I’m giving out a new Etsy coupon to all you who would like to have a browse through my shop. There’s lots of new work up there including cards and prints that have been featured on Geek Tyrant, Design Juices and Business Boom! I’ve added some pics of what’s on offer and for you Cardiff dwellers, my cards are also on sale in Saswa, an adorable gift shop in the Royal Arcade in Cardiff City Centre.

Just use the code HAPPYDAYS at the Etsy checkout and get 20% off your order!

And as usual, if you would like anything personalised or a customised one off design please don’t hesitate to get in touch, either through the form on my new contact page, through my email: jessica@jessicadraws.com, or through twitter or facebook. I’d be glad to help. Spread the word!

And so, on reflection of my upbeat mood, this weeks inspiration gallery takes a rather more humorous tone, which I’m sure, or I hope you’ll enjoy! So here goes…first things first… a baby who hates Helvetica of course!

Haha! next up are some amazing illustrations from one of my favourite illustrators J Scott Campbell that I found on i09. (freakin’ love i09). There’s also a book: Zombies in Love.  I love these illustrations and I love that they’re watercolours, my favourite medium. And they also made me giggle :)

Fabulous! Now, you all know by now how much I love my Geek Art and I found some amazing Batman Villain art created by Andrea Rhodes on Geek Tyrant. I love them!

Aren’t they gorgeous! Catwoman is my favourite! Last up is a bit more geekyness I’m afriad :) I love Battlestar Galactica and yesterday I came accross the characters in The Simpsons style. Haha! These are a selection of my favourites but you can see them all here.

Inspiration on a Sunny Afternoon

Posted on: May 28th, 2012 by jessicadraws No Comments

WOW! This weather is amazing! For those of you who don’t know, I’m in Cardiff, Wales and it rains quite a lot. This week as been phenomenal for weather and I am LOVING it! So, unfortunately the usual Friday inspiration post is slightly late as I was out enjoying this very rare weather!

Here’s another line up of awesome stuff I’ve come across on my travels through the web this week. Read this, enjoy and then get out there and enjoy the outdoors! I command it!

I’m a big fan of all things Disney, especially the classics and there’s a lot of wonderful artwork around the theme of the princesses out these. This caught my eye this week. I found it on Pinterest and linked it back to Indulgy. Not entirely sure who the artist is though which is a shame. Lovely stuff!

Love this depiction of Black Widow and Hawkeye from The Avengers. I’m a massive fan or Marvel films and there’s lots of fan art around based on the characters, including my own.

Unfortunately, I have no idea who it belongs to :( I found it on Pinterest. I’d love to know and see if there are more around the theme. Love it!

The next lot are some gorgeous greetings card designs from Gorjuss Art Ltd, founded by artist Suzanne Woolcott. She says “ Abandonment features heavily, the sense of loss and longing. And of being alone in the world. ” I adore these designs, they’re beautiful and yet quite dark. I love the soft brush feel of the artwork on these cards, it’s beautiful. I came across these in the same shop my own cards are stocked in in Cardiff City Center but they’re stocked in various places all over the country!

This next lot of images is along a similar theme I think. Artist Kathie Olivas and her most recent works titles ‘Misery Children‘ caught my eye. Party for the wonderful artistry and skill of the paintings but the strangeness of them. I like a bit of strange. Olivas says “Misery Children” series focuses on the constant social desire to assign “cuteness.” This often serves as a means to make something innocent and more appealing, therefore, non-threatening.”  Please go and read her rationale of the pieces here if you’re interested, I think it’s a really intriguing subject. The result.. weird! But I just can’t look away!

Next is a self taught artist I found on Etsy. Tarren Pearson is from Anderson, California and she makes a lot of jewellery that she sells through her Etsy shop. I’m not really a jewellery fanatic but these drawing’s caught my eye. Especially the feather! I’d love to have it has a tattoo somewhere! Gorgeous!

Next are some wonderful illustrations from artist Sveta Dorosheva from Israel, whom I found on Behance. Although I can’t find much of a bio about this artist, I absolutely adore the illustrations. Again; magic, fairy tales, myths, legends, witches, monsters always intrigue me and these are no exception! LOVE LOVE LOVE!

That’s all for this week folks! Hope you enjoyed! See you next time… :)
